Hello,

I am an overseas investor and I own few plots in private housing societies in Lahore. I wish to know about the new Vacant Plot Tax introduced by Punjab govt. Will that tax be applicable on me being a foreign citizen of Pakistani origin.

I am registered tax payer in Canada but not in Pakistan. If I register myself in Pakistan, do I have to pay taxes in Pakistan on my Canadian income?

Kindly provide guidance.

Thanks

Gerdazi

Mr Gerdazi,

Yes you will have to pay non development tax etc if that is applicable to your plot. This is how it seems as of now however some things are not yet clear and you should wait a bit further so that a detailed policy will come out . We have a feeling that there will be some leverage for expatriates.

You can become a tax filer in Pakistan and you dont have to pay any taxes on your remittances or ur Canadian income . There is no reason for you not to register 🙂
